SUPPORTING ADHD CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES TO FIND CALM, CONFIDENCE AND SUCCESS

FAMILY COACHING

Parenting or caring for an ADHD child can be challenging, worrying, overwhelming and at times can put stress on the whole family unit.

The challenge of juggling daily life around the needs of your child - managing school, siblings and our own family and working lives can take it’s toll.

Having a better understanding of your childs ADHD, having support from an external coach to help them and subsequently help you with some of the daily challenges and situations faced can give many families a sense of relief.

I work with families and children in a number of ways to help give support, create more understanding and compassion, increase confidence and self esteem and to help you find the right tools and strategies to help your child and your family find more joy and calm.

PARENT COACHING

As parents we have the biggest influence on our childs’ development.

This is the case for any child, however for an ADHD child, having you on their team equipped with a better understanding and awareness of how your child is impacted, is the first step to creating more calm and compassion in your family.

Understanding more about ADHD in our children and how this is affecting your childs lagging skills, whether this is organisational, social or emotional is essential.

Combining this with setting achievable goals and creating successful strategies and tools that work for your family with a coach will help you to start feeling more in control of daily life.

Being a successful advocate for your child means also taking care of yourself. This includes making sure that you understand how to fit your own gas mask before attending to others. Working with a parent coach will also support you to find the way forward to feeling better, more in control and being able to enjoy and appreciate your wonderful, unique, ‘sparkly brained’ small human in your life.

KIDS COACHING

Being a child with ADHD can be a confusing, frustrating and challenging place to be. Our ADHD kids are often battling with a range of challenges - challenges of executive function, emotional regulation, social issues and often ADHD is combined with other diagnoses.

As much as our kids try to keep up with their neuro-typical friends and classmates, they regularly feel different and like they just don’t ‘fit’. Behaviour concerns can often escalate at home and/or at school and often the child can fall behind academically.

I work with tweens, teens and college students to give them the coaching space to explore what is holding them back and how to address is. We look at your child’s strengths and their lagging skills. This is always in partnership with the parents and for lasting change to take place your kids will need you on board.

My aim is to build your child’s confidence and compassion for themselves. To recognise their strengths and to develop an understanding of how to improve their executive function, negotiate challenging situations and create their own version of success.

WORKING TOGETHER

If you are interested in ADHD family coaching the best place to start is to arrange a free 30 min call with me to understand more about how I work and so I can understand the support that you need.

Whilst the coaching may be focused on your child (depending on the age) I often coach other members of the family too to ensure the family unit has a better understanding of your child’s ADHD and to subsequently encourage greater success for the family unit.

If your child is younger or if you as a parent feel that you would benefit from support, parent coaching may be the most beneficial for you right now. Either way I am flexible, and once I commit working with a child i am committed to supporting the family as needed.

Coaching is not a quick fix and a commitment is necessary to build confidence and lasting change. I recommend working with families for a minimum period of 3 months.
